We’ve moved!

In ANNOUNCEMENTS on September 7, 2011 at 5:44 PM

Just a quick announcement: we’ve moved domains so that the web address for this site is now simply uconnemig.com (as opposed to uconnemig.wordpress.com). Don’t worry- if you put in the old address, you will get automatically redirected to the current address, so you don’t need to edit your bookmarks or anything. The change is purely an aesthetic one.

While I’m at it with the announcement, as the site is now almost exactly 5 months old, I’d greatly appreciate it if you visitors would take the time to leave a comment with some feedback. What features do you like? What don’t you like? What would you like to see more of? Any new cool ideas on how the site can be expanded? All feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Max Falkoff

Get into Residency updated

In ANNOUNCEMENTS on May 5, 2011 at 3:36 AM

Now available: the timetable for obtaining a residency in EM  (this is the document that gets passed out every year at EMIG meetings). Accessible only to UCONN students.

In ANNOUNCEMENTS on April 9, 2011 at 5:46 PM

A brief summary of each section heading: About and Contact are self explanatory. Meetings will have posted the next upcoming EMIG meeting with date and topics; location will not be posted due to privacy concerns (just email Lynda Burns if you don’t have the email saved).  Get Into Residency will (soon) have the UCHC guide to getting into an EM residency… I may have some interviews with our program directors for some additional information there, as well. Selectives will feature, well, selectives that have been done through the EM department, past and present. Links is a complete collection of what I think are the best EM websites, blogs, organizations, journals, and video sites; feel free to email me additional suggestions. When enough content has been sent in, there will also be section headings for Journal Club, Cases, and Images.

We’re live!

In ANNOUNCEMENTS on April 9, 2011 at 5:32 PM

Welcome to the University of Connecticut Emergency Medicine Interest Group (henceforth referred simply to as “EMIG“) website and blog! I am excited to announce that this is the first time that the UCONN EMIG has had an update to the website since May 2, 2002… which was a very, very long time ago (link to the old website is, appropriately, at the bottom of the links page).

A brief spiel on my goals: I want the information from our EMIG to be readily accessible on the web. I want it to be a useful resource for my fellow students.  I want it to be updated frequently, and to be a site that you WANT to check out on a regular basis. And I want it to be a collaborative project. If you are interested in contributing to the site, just contact me at uconnemigblog@gmail.com, or use the Contact form, and I will be glad to sign you up.  Likewise, suggestions are always welcome.
